What Would I Do If I Were My Bravest Self?

If I were brave I would —

  • share Jesus’ love to my family more boldly.
  • write more often. I overthink that my writing isn’t good enough and I’ll be criticized for it.
  • not keep getting jobs that pay me so low when I do so much more. But then again, I was trained to give value even though at times I’m not valued.
  • stop being a pushover. Or as Sheldon described Leonard in Big Bang Theory’s episode, a satisficer. I go with the majority. Or I just say yes to someone else's decision because I don't want to be called out for what I think.
  • say when I’m hurt or when I’m hurting.
  • stop acting like I can take it all when in reality I AM SO TIRED. I have wifely and mommy and breadwinner responsibilities and I try so hard not to complain because I love them.
  • tell that person that it hurt a lot when he physically and emotionally abused me and made it seem that it was my fault why he responded that way. Yes, I did forgive him but once in a while flashbacks come and it hurts again. And I have to forgive again.
  • be more assertive for my daughters’ sake and my sake.
  • think of my well-being once in a while.

Making me write all of these things made me realize that I’m exhausted but I still keep on trying —

  • to love and forgive because it’s what Jesus showed and modeled.
  • to keep on living and hoping because life is precious.
  • to work even though I’m underpaid because loved ones are depending on me.
  • to be kind and forgiving to me as well.
